How to block websites on computer browser without using any Software

In this tutorial, you will learn how to block websites on computer. There are thousands of softwares are available on internet to block sites but, in this tutorial, you are gonna learn how to block sites on computer without using any software.

It is very easy to block websites on computer without any software. This trick will work on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. I have tried this trick on all windows and it really works. Follow the steps below to learn how to block sites on computer.

Go to Run(Windows Key + R)

Type C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts

OR
Find your computer's HOSTS file. For NT Based Windows, that's C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc. For others, that's C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. Follow the images below:

Go to 'My Computer', then Click on Local Disk (C:)

then Click on 'Windows' folder

then Click on 'System32' folder

then Click on 'drivers' folder

then Click on 'etc' folder

then double-click on 'hosts', and open it with notepad or Right-click the host file, select Open >> Notepad and click OK.

Add new entries to block at the bottom of the file. For example, if you wish to block www.bet365.com, add this to the bottom of the hosts file (after 127.0.0.1 press TAB not Spaces)

 then Save the file.

If you have problem saving due to some Administrator stuffs, just copy the 'hosts' file to desktop or anywhere, open and edit it following the same process above, then save it. After saving, copy/move the edited 'hosts' file and replace it with the one in the default 'etc' folder.. Then it should work..
